Unveiling Matale’s Hidden Gems: Bambarakiri Ella & Wedda Pini Ella

Our waterfall adventure delves deeper into Matale District on Day 2, where captivating cascades and a touch of history await.  Prepare to be mesmerized by the contrasting beauty of two unique waterfalls.

Bambarakiri Ella: A Scenic Wonder with Caution First, we encounter Bambarakiri Ella, a picturesque waterfall nestled within the Knuckles mountain range.  While its height may be modest at 3 meters, its charm lies in its breathtaking surroundings and the iconic suspension bridge gracing the view.  Important Note: While the scenery beckons, prioritize safety and avoid swimming here due to past accidents.

Mini World’s End & Wedda Pini Ella: A Journey Through Time Next, embark on a short trek to Mini World’s End, a viewpoint offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape.  Continue on to Wedda Pini Ella, a 3-meter waterfall cascading from the Telgamu Oya.  Legend has it that the fall was once frequented by the Vedda people, Sri Lanka’s indigenous inhabitants. As you witness the cascading water, feel a connection to the island’s ancient past.

Reaching Wedda Pini Ella: Located in the Matale District, the journey to Wedda Pini Ella involves a scenic drive followed by a short trek.  Take the Riverston road for approximately 36 kilometers, descending near the post office.  From there, a 1-kilometer trek leads you to this hidden gem.
